Task
The client approached us to assess the possibility of registering a word sign as a trademark in Ukraine and to minimize the risk of receiving a refusal.
What was done
A preliminary search was conducted in the Ukrainian trademark database and among international registrations extending to the territory of Ukraine. The analysis revealed a similar sign that could serve as grounds for a preliminary refusal following the qualification examination. To reduce the client's risks, we recommended adding a distinctive graphic element and modifying part of the word sign to form a fanciful word. After the revisions, an application for a combined trademark was filed. As a result, the trademark was registered without receiving a preliminary refusal. The chosen strategy allowed avoiding delays in the procedure and ensuring stable legal protection of the sign.
